If you are in the US and have an Italian proxy when you perform a speed test with the proxy enabled it will pick a server in Italy. When you disable the proxy it will pick a server in the US. As speed issues can be caused by infrastructure in or en route to the destination, you need to test your connection with the proxy\/VPN disabled with a Speedtest.net server in the same location as the proxy\/VPN server.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1 &#8211; Test the Proxy\/VPN speeds<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li> Enable your proxy or VPN.<\/li>\n<li> Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/speedtest.net\">http:\/\/speedtest.net<\/a><\/li>\n<li> Click Begin Test.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li> Speedtest will automatically pick a location for you. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Note the location and host displayed in the bottom right corner of the test.<\/li>\n<li>Note the Ping and Download speed results.<\/li>\n<li> To be sure these results are typical, repeat this test a few times by clicking the Test Again button at the bottom of the test results. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Step 2 &#8211; Test your connection with the same Speedtest.net server using the map<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li> Be sure the proxy and\/or VPN connection is disabled.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li> You can check your IP here <a href=\"http:\/\/getfoxyproxy.org\/geoip\/\">http:\/\/getfoxyproxy.org\/geoip\/<\/a> to be sure. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>    Using the map, find the location from the test in Step 1.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the world map or drag the green box to show the desired area in the upper local map.<\/li>\n<li>        Zoom in or out and drag the upper local map.<\/li>\n<li>Server locations are denoted by white circles, hover over the circles to see the city name and country code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li> Once you have found the server location, hover over the white circle to find the host (some locations have more than one host, others only have one)<\/li>\n<li>Click on the server name to start the test.<\/li>\n<li>Note the Ping and Download speed results.<\/li>\n<li>To be sure these results are typical, repeat this test a few times by clicking the Test Again button at the bottom of the test results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Can&#8217;t find the location on the map? &#8211; Test your connection with the same Speedtest.net server using settings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Be sure the proxy and\/or VPN connection is disabled.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>You can check your IP here <a href=\"http:\/\/getfoxyproxy.org\/geoip\/\">http:\/\/getfoxyproxy.org\/geoip\/<\/a><\/li>\n<p> to be sure <\/ul>\n<li>Click on the Settings button at the top of the Speedtest.net website.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Here is the direct link to that page &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.speedtest.net\/user-settings.php\">http:\/\/www.speedtest.net\/user-settings.php<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Find the Preferred Server drop-down at the bottom right of this page, next to Global Settings.<\/li>\n<li> From the drop-down, choose the same server location that you noted when testing your Proxy\/VPN.<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Servers are listed alphabetical by city. To jump to your city click on the drop-down then start typing the city name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Click the Save button<\/li>\n<li>Click the Take a Speed Test button at the top right of the settings.<\/li>\n<li>You should see two Begin Test buttons, click the one on the right labeled Begin Test &#8211; Your Preferred Server.<\/li>\n<li>Note the Ping and Download speed results.<\/li>\n<li>To be sure these results are typical, repeat this test a few times by clicking the Test Again button at the bottom of the test results.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Testing Service Speed When you use Speedtest.net it automatically chooses a server closest to you.
